Requirements regarding Hardware and Operating System
This documentation is listing the minimum requirements of hardware and software elements needed for computers to get the application WinCanVX installed and operated successfully.

Video Encoding Card
Recording video clips in the formats MPEG1, MPEG2 and MPEG4 usually requires the use of specific hardware encoding devices.
WinCan LTD provides and entirely supports the following products directly:
VITEC board (PCI/PCI-Express): used in desktop computers
In case of computers provided by the company HP the usage of the VITEC board may cause a device conflict with the mainboard!
MobileCap 124 (Sensoray 2250) or Sensoray 2253: USB-card, connected to Laptops
It is also possible to install any other common USB video encoding card (e. g. DFG/USB2pro from The Imaging Source) available on the free market but with limited support and video clips of reduced quality:
In order WinCanVX can create an MPEG-clip directly from the live video stream provided by such a device, you will need the additional license elecard (SoftwareEncoding). Otherwise an AVI-clip is created per default that results in a worse quality-size ratio.
Chassis Dimensions
Mind the minimum chassis height/depth for desktop computers in order to plug in the VITEC board properly.
The values for the dimensions indicated below can always differ from the dimensions of the products currently available on the market!
ATX Desktop (420 x 415 x 175 mm / 16.54 x 16.34 x 6.89'')
ATX Tower (495 x 430 x 180 mm / 19.49 x 16.93 x 7.09'')
Shuttle (290 x 200 x 185 mm / 11.42 x 787 x 7.28'')
At least 1 free PCI or PCI-Express slot must be available on the mainboard.
Operating System
The following operating system versions are supported in case of WinCan installations on computers in a truck or in an office:
Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit (supported and recommended)
Windows 11 Pro, 64 bit (supported but installation of MobileCap 124)
Make sure the latest system updates provided by Microsoft have been downloaded and installed.
