Problem:

Due to the sophisticated technical concept of the DigiSewer scanning technology, lots of important details have to be taken into account when getting the equipment operated and controlled from the WinCan software.

Solution:

Always go to through the whole checklist in case the DigiSewer equipment does not run anymore as expected:

1.) Check your PC-Hardware:

2.) Check your operating system:

Make sure the V8–VitecDriver and the V8–DigiSewer-Application are completely uninstalled from the computer!

3.) Download the latest versions of the installation files below; WinCanVXSetup already contains the VX-DigiSewer-Application

Log in as Local Administrator or as a user with Administrator privilegies and run the installation files.

4.) During the installation process WinCanVX Setup is creating the following two sub-directories where the program installation files of WinCanVX are finally located:

Mind that both directories are excluded from any AntiVirus scan and that their privilege level is set to Full Control.

5.) Run WinCanVX, select the command Home > Program Information > Manage License > License settings and enter the activation code sent by CDLab. Next check whether the item DigiSewer appears on the list of licensed features:

6.) Check the functionality of the VITEC-board running the livewire test application: C:\Program Files(x86)\CDLab\Drivers\TestApp\Vitec\Vitec Test App.exe

Recommended settings: Input=Composite 3; Standard=PAL; VideoPreview Mode=DirectDraw

7.) Check all the cable connections. The devices must be linked together exactly as shown in the sketch below:

8.) Make sure the power supply is stable!

9.) Check the communication between the text generator from iPEK (DE03SW, DE08CO/CVO or DCX/Vision Control) and the computer within the OSD-Settings dialogue:

10.) First check if the crawler has got a built-in inclination sensor. Press Shift-Ctrl-1 to turn on the display of the inclination percentage value. Lift the crawler on one side to see if the sensor works correctly.

11.) Run the file C:\Program Files (x86)\CDLab\Assemblies\MultiUSBConfig.exe as Administrator:

12.) The MultiUSB configuration panel opens and allows you to check the device mode (1), the COM-port (2) the input channel for inclination (3) as well as the distance unit (4):

  1. According to the device, that has been connected the user has to select the appropriate mode:

  1. In case the device communication works via a RS232 connection, select the appropriate COM-port.

  2. Verify the signal type for inclination measurement: AD = analogical; CAN = digital

  3. Verify the unit for distance measurement: [feet] for US; [meter] for any other country

13.) In case the device communication works via a MultiUSB connection, run the application C:\Program Files\WinCan v8\WinCan\MultiUSBDiag.exe (Version from 2010 or higher!) to test its functionality:

If the distance value isn’t changing or if they aren’t any data available after the scanning process you must unplug and plug in again the MultiUSB unit to enforce a reliable communication between the devices!

14.) Open the file C:\Program Files\WinCan v8\WinCan\Ini\WinCanScanExplorer.ini and check the values for the encoder WHEELDIAMETER as well as for the number of impulses per revolution (IMPPERREV):

15.) If the inclination is not displayed correctly check the following entries in the file C:\Windows\system32\MultiUSB.ini:

If the Section [Serial] is missing or empty the inclination data are directly transmitted via the MultiUSB unit.

16.) Check the path of the WinCan project folder. It should always be set to a local hard drive. Do NOT use external hard drives (e.g. USB drives) for data recording.

17.) Check the name of the WinCan project. Do NOT use "odd" characters like ä,ö,ü,ê,â,ñ,õ,ç etc. when typing the project name as DigiSewer does NOT support these characters.

In case of reproducible crashes or persisting problems try to scan a few meters/feet and send the LOG-file to support@wincan.com:

Always add a screenshot of all the error messages that might pop up.
