PS-VTG2; Device Driver, Installation

The device VTG2, made by the manufacturer PS hard- & software GmbH, is an integrated part of the camera systems provided by the companies RAUSCH, RICO, and RITEC. The following pages describe how to properly install the driver for this device.

Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 10

Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option:

Then head into Advanced options:

Next select Startup Settings:

Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your computer one last time:

Finally, you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is Disable driver signature enforcement.

Press the F7 key to activate this setting:

Your PC is going to reboot and unsigned drivers are able to be properly installed during the current Windows session or until the next system restart.

Run the driver installation

Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of the file VTG2. Next extract the ZIP file, right click on the installation file VTG2G V2.0 Setup OEM and run the installation as ADMINISTRATOR:

Enable Virtual COM-port (VCP)

Right click on the desktop icon My PC, select the command Properties and activate the link to the Device Manager:

Right click on the device USB-VTG Communication Link (1) and select the command Properties (2).

Select the tab Advanced (3), enable the option Load VCP (4) and confirm with the button OK:

Disable the device AND make sure the USB-VTG Communication Link is still activated:

Right click on the new device USB Serial Port inside the category Other devices and select the command Update driver:

Select the second option within the dialogue that follows:

Select the corresponding path of the PS-VTG driver, check the option Include subfolders and continue with the button Next:

Select the 2nd option in the dialogue box that pops up prior to the installation process:

This dialogue box always must appear. If it doesn't, make sure the Driver Signature Enforcement has been disabled in WINDOWS

 

Check whether the driver update installation has been done successfully:

Reboot your computer after driver installation.

Communication check

Open the Windows device manager and check whether the VCP-VTG Communication Link is properly recognized as shown below. The number of the COM-port is assigned automatically by the Windows operating system:

Run the tool DeviceEnumerator.exe located in C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\CDLab\Assemblies and hit the button Search VTG2 (1). The tool is going to tell the user then whether and which VTG2 device type is currently connected to your computer (2) :

In case the device is not found ask the manufacturer PS hard- & software GmbH for the latest version of VTG2 driver which must be compatible with the corresponding version of Microsoft Windows (Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows 11)

Configuration of the OSD settings in WinCan VX

Run WinCan VX, open the OSD device settings dialogue as shown below. Select the device PS-VTG2 and the corresponding COM-port. As soon as the device number is highlighted in GREEN, the software WinCanVX is able to communicate with the device.

Make sure you select the COM-port (e.g. COM 3) that the operating system has properly recognized after the installation of the device driver.
