PS-VTG2, Sub-types
Question/Problem:
Which VTG2 sub-types do exist and how can the operator make sure they will communicate reliably with the current computer they are connected to?
Answer/Solution:
The different sub-types and their specifications are listed below:
C-VTG-2 (text display in black and white)
Hardware ID in Device Manager: USB\VID_0403&PID_6015
Driver: FTDI driver
Download: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm (CDM v2.12.28 WHQL Certified.zip)
This driver is signed and all versions of Microsoft Windows (i.e. Windows 7, 8/8.1 and 10) can automatically download and install it from the INTERNET
ID string in VX: CVTG-2 V2.10 17/08/2017, VTG2GCOM.DLL: V2.0.0.0
IMPORTANT: reboot your computer after driver installation.
VTG-3056 COL-1 (text display in various colors) and some OEM black and white devices
Hardware ID in Device Manager: USB\VID_0403&PID_9FC0
Driver: PS driver
Download: http://www.service.ps-gmbh.de/185212a2010c17403.php (vtg2g-driver.zip)
This driver is NOT signed and some versions of Microsoft Windows (i.e. Windows 8/8.1 and 10) are UNABLE to automatically download it from the INTERNET.
The option Driver Signature Enforcement thus must be disabled there (see next chapter)
ID string in VX: n.a

If there is no possibility to install the driver AND if only the virtual COM-port is missing (after VX update), you just need to add a new command line within the file.
