Introduction

Backing up and restoring all settings done in WinCanVX is a way to either transfer them for the current computer to another one or to restore them when reinstalling the software.

The following settings are automatically implied in the configuration backup:

It’s recommended to have the auto backup enabled under Home>Settings>General, so that changes in the configuration settings will automatically be saved into a new backup file each time WinCanVX is launched. In case of unexpected crashes the user can thus retrieve any lost configurations from the most recent backup file:

Besides the auto backup the user can manually save the current program configuration to a backup file.

Backup – Create:

To create a backup of the current settings, click on the Tools tab and select the command Create > Create to file as shown below:

The default location where the file will be stored is C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\CDLAB. Name the file accordingly, save it in a preferred location and press save.

Once done the notification below will confirm the user that has been created successfully:

Backup – Restore:

To restore the most recent program settings, click on the Tools tab and select the command Restore > Restore from File as shown below:

Then browse to the folder (e.g. C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\CDLAB) where you previously saved the backup file and press open:

Next, you will be able to select the settings from your backup to include on the restore. Once you have selected the settings you would like to restore click the green tick button to accept.

Always keep the option Merge participants at the bottom left of the dialogue box unchecked to make sure the project participants will properly be restored.

Once completed a notification will be shown. It will alert you to exit from the application to apply the new settings.

Once restarted the notification below will confirm the user that the settings have been restored:
