This document supports the software application training provided by WinCan to customers working on GDMS (Data Management System) projects for the tier one contractors operating the National Highways operating areas and is commonly known as HADDMS, DDMS or more recently GDMS.

Warning: WinCan VX can be used to round-trip data out of and back into the GDMS system as described in these pages, and it can also be used to create new data sets from scratch. It should be always borne in mind that creating new data from scratch should only ever happen where there is no available data on the GDMS database for the area of work. But, it is not possible to do a ‘bit of both’. It is not possible to start a project from a blank piece of paper from scratch and then subsequently decide to round-trip it after say site inspections have been completed. |
