Instructions

Since March 2020, WinCan V8 can also be operated with the WinCan VX software license key. So there is no need to use the old WinCan V8 dongle which is no longer supported by the hardware manufacturer.

Follow the steps below to make sure WinCan VX and WinCan V8 will be running properly with the same software license key on the same machine:

  • Install WinCan VX and activate the software license key. Make sure the additional license slots are available as shown below:

1.) Hit the WinCan V8 desktop icon and make sure you run WinCanV8 as Administrator.

2.) Open the Properties panel of the following installation directories, hit the tab Security and set the privilege level to Full Control:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\WinCan V8

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\CDLAB

3.) Make sure the sub-folder C:\Users\[current user]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore does not contain any folders/files related to WinCanV8

  • Download the application WinCanVXNetRunner.exe from https://app.box.com/s/fysgq6tqyjmmwqvlj512s52bbxu2n19i and copy it into the sub-directory C:\Program Files (x86)\CDLab\Assemblies.

  • Open the file C:\Program Files (x86)\WinCan V8\WinCan\Ini\W8Settings.ini and go to the section [Environment]

  • Make sure the path for WinCanVXNetRunner is written as highlighted below in the first command line:

  • Unplug the V8-hardlock and run WinCanV8

  • Open the license information panel under Info>Hardlock and check whether the entry WinCan VX License is displayed as shown below:

Troubleshooting

Proceed as follows in case WinCan V8 unexpectedly will not start up anymore and shows the message No hardlock found:

  • Check whether the application WinCanVXNetRunner.exe is still available in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\CDLab\WinCanVX.

  • Double-click on WinCanVXNetRunner.exe

  • Run WinCanV8

  • No labels
