This article describes how photo and video file names can be customized inside a WinCanVX project using a predefined field combination.

Instructions

  • Go to Home > Settings and click on the category Plugins > Project MediaFiles Renaming OR go to Tools > MiscTools > Project MediaFiles Renaming > Settings
  • Choose a predefined field combination (e.g. CH-Interlis (1), Madrid, WC4 Thames Water etc.): these combinations strictly follow the official naming standard which are mainly used in your country or region.

  • Select the list entry Custom if you want to have photo/video files renamed applying a field combination that you defined yourself.
  • Check the option Always trigger when new media file is created.
  • Click on the gear wheel icon right to each media file group (i.e. Sec/Lat video, Sec/Lat picture, Node video, Node picture).
  • Double-click on the desired database field from the list on the RIGHT side of the panel to move it into the list box on the LEFT.
  • Repeat this step, until all fields needed for creation of a sensible file name will be listed inside the field on the LEFT.
  • Use the arrow buttons Move Up or Move Down (1) to re-order the fields
  • Click on the green OK button to confirm the customized name for the previously selected media file group
  • Launch the renaming process for the corresponding media file group hitting the command Tools > MiscTools > Project MediaFiles Renaming > SectionAsset (or Lateral/NodeAsset respectively)

  • The result may look as follows:

Keep in mind that media files should have an unique name! Please use the simulation first, so you are able to check the result before.
