Editing Data in WinCan VX Map

Introduction

The geo-sensor provides reliable measurement data regarding the pipeline geometry so you can directly transfer them to your end customer (engineer office, local water authorities etc.).

Adjusting the Position of Objects

In some specific cases you will probably have to slightly move or rotate the whole geometry of a section (i.e. main pipe and linked laterals) in WinCan Map according to the background plot. Proceed as follows to do so:

  1. Go the legend panel and select the layer WinCan_Sections

  2. Highlight the section to be moved or rotated

  3. Define the DXF-plot as the snapping layer

  4. Activate the tool Home → Move to move the whole section or a manhole to another location on the map.

  5. Activate the tool Home → Rotate to move only the end point of a section to the desired location. The start point thus becomes a pivot:

When moving or rotating, the object (i.e. section or manhole) is going to snap to the corresponding reference lines on the DXF plot.

Geometry and length of the section do never change during this process and are always based on the previously done 3D Measurement.

Mind that both tools can only be applied to the currently selected section.

Update 3D Projects from VX v14 → v15

Following major changes to the WinCan VX application for 3D Measurements between versions14 and 15, there is a need to run an update to the data in some cases.

This only needs to be done once on a project.

This only needs to be dine on 3D projects that were created and started in VX v14 and are now being used in VX v15.

Before going any further, backup the database, just in case the results are not what you expect and you need to restore the project. You can do this either by navigating to the project folder and making a copy/paste of the DB folder, or by using the tool in WinCan VX ribbon Tools → Project → Backup Project Now.

  1. Open the project in WinCan VX.

  2. Close WinCan Map and WinCan 3D desktop application.

  3. Be sure to be logged into VX as Admin user, so that the Admin ribbon bar is visible.

  4. Select the tool from this menu option and let it run. It may take some time to complete if the project is large. Please have patience and let it complete.
