License Server: Requirements and Installation

The WinCan License Server (Distributed License Server) is as service which runs under a Windows operating system. The service provides a web page to activate and manage the WinCanVX licenses for a limited amount of workstations within the network environment.

The WinCan license server must be installed on a local network server, in order to guarantee a proper access. The network server itself can be a real or a virtual machine.

Note:

Prior to the installation the network administrator must send the following information to sales@wincan.com

  • Number of workstations the license package must include

  • Type of the machine the license server is installed on (i.e. PHYSICAL or VIRTUAL machine)

Troubleshooting

The following error message may appear especially on virtual server machines:

Checking the Hardware ID is currently a part of the general licence validation procedure. The steps below allow the network administrator to resolve this issue:

  • Deactivate licence

  • Stop the service WinCan_DL and restart it (see chapter Installation of the License Server, step 8)

  • Ask for a new code and reactivate the licence with the new code

After an update of the licence server software, another error message may pop (see below). Follow the same steps to have the problem resolved:
