This article describes the required procedure the customer must know to have the virtual text generator IBAK Soft Control smoothly launched and operated from WinCanVX.

Introduction

The text generator IBAK SoftControl is only used together with an IBAK camera equipment. Each camera functionality (see sample list below) is assigned a corresponding button in a the horizontal and a the vertical toolbar which are displayed at the lower and the right screen edge respectively:

  • Camera signal: configuration of signal quality (brightness, contrast, saturation…)

  • Text display: configuration of text position and text colours

  • OSD objects (distance, inclination, date, time, speed, view direction): position and colours

  • Diameter measurement with 1 LASER dot (Argus an Orion)

Installation procedure

The installation of IBAK SoftControl is usually done by the company IBAK or the corresponding IBAK reseller. Proceed as follows to get this application smoothly run together with other applications like WinCan VX:

1.) Make sure you install the latest version of the IBAK SoftControl package that must contain the drivers for the following video capture devices:

  • Vitec VM4-2-C8 (MPEG-capture board)

  • Vitec VMC-7440 (HD-capture board)

  • Sensoray 2253 (external MPEG-capture device)

2.) Make sure you install the latest version of WinCanVX (1.2022.14.X or higher).

3.) Run WinCanVX, go to Home>Settings>Live Video and select the entry IBAK-SoftControl

4.) Switch to Home>Settings>OSD and select the entry IBAK-SoftControl

5.) Confirm the settings and start recording a sample video clip.

Troubleshooting

Problem 1

SoftControl bars not visible after launching WinCanVX.

Make sure the following files have been copied into the sub-folder C:\ProgamFiles (x86)\CDLAB\WinCanVX:

  • [ID-number]_SoftControl.License

  • IBAKSoftControl.dll

  • measurement.xml

  • SettingsPage.dll

In case it is not done automatically during the WinCanVX installation process, you will have to copy these files manually from the source folder C:\IBAKSoftControl\files:

Problem 2

WinCanVX unexpectedly crashes when hitting the recording button.

The latest version of the IBAK SoftControl package does not yet contain the driver for the video capture board Vitec VM4-C9. The following manual tweaks are thus required and can only be done by the company IBAK or the corresponding IBAK reseller:

  • Log-in as Administrator or run the Command Prompt as Administrator

  • Switch to the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\CDLAB\WinCanVX (1)

  • Type the command line mklink vm4400_firmware.bin C:\IBAKSoftControl\files\IBAKSoftControl\VM4C9\vm4400_firmware.bin (2).

  • This is going to create the Symlink (Softlink) in the destination folder (1):

 

  • Copy the folder C:\IBAKSoftControl\files\platforms into the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\CDLab\WinCanVX
